Eye Dissection!

Eye Dissection! Today at Enrich we  killed (cut open) eyeballs. They were pigs eyeballs. We had to dissect eyeballs. So first we talked about the different parts of the eyeball. Some of them were the lens and the retina. When we opened up the eye ball all this gooey see-through stuff came out. It was really fun. A fish's eyeball has a hard lense.It was very interesting because there was fat and muscles to move it's eyeball around. See you next week.

Today at Enrich we launched into environment and Grant Meikle came to speak to us and he is a crew member of the Sea Shepard.They stop illegal whaling. People from Japan everyday are taking whales from the worlds seas. The Sea Shepard tries to stop these illegal whalers. Then we did a list of 3-5 areas of our passion. My ones were:

Today at Enrich

Today at Enrich we started of with a Wilson game. Then we did passion time which was my stone carving. I think that I am almost done.The favourite bit of my day was when we did the must dos/picks.What you had to do is get a matchstick and a one dollar and twenty cent coin and put one on the ground and put one on top balancing on the other. Then you carefully put the matchstick balancing on top of the coin.Then you put the cup over the top of them. After that you charged up the balloon with static electricity by rubbing it on the carpet, or your head and then use it to try and move the matchstick.  The matchstick did move.  This was because the balloon has more neutrons so it tries to even out its protons but the matchstick rejects it which causes it to move. I did this experiment with my friend Max.

Hello everyone. Today at Enrich we did a technology challenge where you had to make a contraption out of a scene in MacGyver . What you had to do is you got some materials and make a contraption in 15 minutes in groups of three. There has only been 1 group all week that has ever done it. Your feet were held by team members. You had to get your contraption across a 2.5 metre gap to get some tools. So the tools were a hammer and a chisel to get you out of the concrete that ypur feet were 'trapped' in.

Today at Enrich we started off with chess and that was really fun. Then we did passion time. I am doing stone carving. I am doing a koru. Then we played Piccadilly circus where you had to get into a circle and everybody had to get the ball but your not allowed to pass the ball directly next to you, and you have to do it in silence. We did it in 38 seconds. Then we did our environment projects.

Today at Enrich we did chess I lost though but I will just keep on trying!!! Then we did our environmental projects we are currently editing the pages. It is coming along very well. Then we did a Wilson game, It was bulls eye they just adjusted the points the first hoop was worth 3 points the 2nd one was worth 6, the third one was worth 9 points and the last hop was worth 12 points. we came 2nd tied.Then we did our passion projects.

Hi Travis,

You spent your time wisely during concept curriculum today.  Researching to find a free web host, and then deciding on your template is a good start to your group's website.  It was great to see you using your plan to know what goes where, and how your website it going to be formatted.  I look forward to seeing the progress you make as you do more research into the content of your site.  We need to remember to send a camera out with the Seaward Bush group next week!

Today we started of with chess I versed Jemma I lost but I just keep on trying. Then we carried on with our environmental projects we worked on our website, it is coming along really well. 
Then we did debating with Katie. I was on the affirmative team.  We had a tie with the other team. The debate was about whether people should be allowed cats on Stewart Island , and  then we played dodge ball. After that we did science-physics I can not wait until we do it.I think it will be really fun.The other choices are 3D art and math.

Today at Enrich we launched into chess I lost but it was a good game with Tabbitha and it just made me more confident. The week has gone super fast as it is already week 5! Then we did debating our subject was should we or should we not go on Facebook if we're under the age of 18.Our Team lost. But at least we tried!

I am really happy because I have finished my plan, you see we are doing an environment project and I am creating a website! I never thought in my right mind that I would finish it!
Today we were using the dinoscopes to look at dead bugs.
We looked at the wings and they were really pretty!
At 22 magnification they looked like glimmering water!

Today at enrich we did science.  We were making light bulbs and if you put a lead in the middle it will blow.  If you put a piece of wire in the middle of the jar it will heat up and light, then it will blow.  It was really really fun.  Then we launched into environment we are going to do a documentary on environment and then it was lunch time and we played a game of dodge ball.  We did our goal setting , one of mine was to post multi-media files on my blog posts.

Today at Enrich we did a technology challenge where you had a shuttlecock and some other materiels and what what you had to do is make some sort of thing to launch the shuttlecock to see how far you got. I hope we win!Then at lunch we played doge ball and I got hit in the face, and it was really sore. It was really fun 'cause I kept on getting people out.

Today at Enrich it was the first day of Term 3.  At enrich  today I started to do a science experimnt and the science experiment was called elephant toothpaste.  We used hydrogen peroxide, yeast, food colouring and water.  It bubbled over and it was exciting.  We learnt about environment and the definition for the word environment.

Today at Enrich we did our self reflection-this is what mine looked like. Please click on to to enlarge! Then we did a Wilson game and in it what you had to do is try and get your team of three into the hoop without touching the sides. It was really fun. I can not believe that it is almost the school holidays. Yay!

Today at ENRICH

Today we did either tapa cloth or a kowhiawhai pattern. I continued with my tapa cloth. What you have to do is get a special type of paper and fold it into a 4x3 squares and draw pictures of something to do with the pacific islands.  The pictures have to follow a pattern. You trace over the pictures in vivid, then you have to scrunch up the paper until it feels soft.  Next you dye it with brown dye.

Today we did P4C and we did it on violence, the question was "is it ever right to use violence?"and I think that you should only use it for self defense. We also did talent development and we went to Queens Park and took photos and my favorite photo was a duck jumping out of the pond because it was funny!

We also cropped and edited the photos when we got back.

Passon Time

Today at Enrich I started off by playing chess. I had a good game against Conor but lost! Then we did our passion time. I was doing robotics - thanks to Connor, and it was really fun!! Then we did must dos/picks.

Today I did speed stacks - they are cups with a timer and you have to time your self stacking them up and then down again.Then we did talent development.  Next we did our passion time. My passion time was on green screening with my friend Robert.  Green screening is when you film in front of a green screen or sheet, and when you import the movie on to the computer it gets rid of the green background, which you can replace with any image you like for your background.

Today@Enrich

Today at Enrich we played the Wilson game and that was really, really fun! Then I did speed stacking. After that we did P4C. The topic was on lying - should we lie or not? My thoughts are that you should not lie in any circumstances even if it is to save somebody's life!! Then we did our blog post.

Last post for term 1

I played Darryn twice but lost twice in chess Darryn is really good at chess! 
This is my learning wheel.  We used it to reflect on the term at Enrich@ILT like when I started, how I felt and what I learnt.

Today we learnt how to block scholars in chess and then I did photography and took lots of photos and am learning how to edit them.Then we did the Wilson game it was really fun. You had to get other people's pegs.  The aim was to develop team skills.

At enrich we have done leader board chess. I tried to beat Max twice but lost twice. Even though I lost I will try even harder next time. We got a new sheet with must dos/Picks, this is something where you choose 2 things that you want to do and have to do the things that the teachers want you to do. I also did a bio poem which is a poem about yourself. Here is mine - enjoy!

Today I have been learning about blogs. This is my first post ever. It is quite fun at Enrich, with all the resources here. The teachers are very friendly here. Previously my sister came here in 2009. Last week we visited the water tower because we are learning about perspective.
