Interesting Comparisons

Hello readers.
Today we were presenting our amazing gifted person study. We have Steve Irwin who has been a big hit with people. It has been interesting to compare the different presentation options such as: Powerpoint, Keynote, Prezi  and Poster Boards. There are more people ready to go and I haven't done mine yet. One more week to go! I have been learning heaps with the info packed into their awesome visual presentations. 

We have also been doing lino printing. My owl is coming along very well.



Today at Enrich I have been finishing off with my amazing presentation of Steve Jobs, the man who invented computers. With this affective study we have to do a presentation of our chosen gifted person. I have finally finished it. YAHOO! I used a presentation tool called Prezi  which is an interactive tool that you can use for various types of things such as business presentations rather than power point. We had a criteria that we had to follow and I successfully used this.

Digital citizenship

This workshop is about how in this developing world even before you are born you are leaving a digital footprint. It all starts when when you get a picture of you in your Mums tummy. These are then kept on the places files. When you the get born you get a picture of you as a baby and kept on the hospitals records. You will also have a band around your foot with important information like your gender, date of birth and other various things. Also most of us will start email accounts and other accounts like Facebook, twitter and other social networking sites. Most of us will also have devices that have accounts linked to it such as ipod with an apple id. You also need to choose passwords that aren't easy to crack. Now the new credit cards will have 'Paywave' is an easy tool you can use to make purchases with a wave of you card. You don't have to type in your personal identification number like the older credit cars with every purchase you have to type in your PIN.

Cryptic crosswords

Today at Enrich we were continuing with our cryptic crosswords. These crosswords are really hard to do as there are little words that don't always fit. Down below is a picture of what it is. Another hard part is doing all the clues. Today I have been doing the final stages of my Lino print. I have picked out my colours for my amazing owl. I will show you some more photos next week hopefully!

LINO PRINTING!!

Welcome back!!

Today has been an action packed day at Enrich. We started off with chess and I versed Briana on chess, it was a hard battle but I survived the battle... We then were doing our lino printing. My lino print is of a owl. What you have to do is use a woodcut knife set and a piece of lino then what you do is chisel out you picture. It is a very good project to do.We have also been doing a gifted person study and I am doing Steve Jobs. We have to then make it into a presentation.

LINO

At Enrich we had a smallish class but not as small as 13! I was doing my Lino print chiseling away at my awesome owl. I glanced across and saw the others chiseling furiously away with their prints. I squirted out some green and white to see what amazing colour came out. I double checked what colour an owl should be. WRONG!! An owl should be brown and beige. Anyway it was still fun.

Took out the Title

Today at Enrich we did an awesome technology challenge.  You had some materials and you had to make a emergency shelter to fit two or three people in it. It was very challenging but we successfully took out the title for the winner of it. Our structure was pyramid shaped. We then moved onto art. I am doing a lino print were you have to carve out a picture and then you print it. Today was a small class in the morning, but then we were joined by the others at lunchtime........

Today we did Writer's Studio and write an article about our observations that we made when we were on our amazing bus trip with Nicola. 

COPY STARTS         

Woman working out how to work the parking meter. She calls out to the guy from China and asks him "How do you work these annoying things?"  Woman is pressing all randomly around the parking meter trying to work out how to use it. Man shakes it violently getting annoyed with it. The woman says “We don’t have these in China.” Woman wondering if they give out tickets? Woman leaves and goes away. 25.956 minutes later an ICC personnel turns up. The woman and the man were giving her trouble so she called the cops. The copper takes the woman and the man to the police station and two minutes they came out with a very hefty fine and a warning.

COPY ENDS We are about do Piccadilly Circus and we will try and beat the high score. Its been a pretty action-packed day today.        

Mind Mapping

Today I went to the workshop with Darryn and we learnt how to mind map properly without putting bubbles around the main idea (because that closes of the 'connection' with the other ideas). We looked at the example of Tony Buzan and how he was the one who developed mind mapping. This was overall very interesting because it taught you skills for later in life when you might need to use this.
 We  also finished our MADE Awards and did some finishing touches. We added some sound effects and some music and made a sound track on garageband and put it into our amazing MADE Award entry. We also are going to enter a photo as well as this as in term 2 we took photos at Oreti Beach. Since we have finished we had to choose to do either a passion time project or art.

Amazing MADE awards

Today  at Enrich we finished editing our amazing Made Awards. It took a long time to do it but in the end it came together really well. Our title Is "Bella the bully proof Kid" We have put some  special effects in it. This took a lot of planning and preparation. The commercial is 51 seconds and it was very hard to get it in this time frame.. I hope we win..

Calligraphy.....

Today at Enrich I learned how to write in calligraphy. This was challenging but fun. We used special pens to write.We had to make a poster on anything we wanted to.I am trying to write this in calligraphy but it is pretty hard to read, so congratulations to all that can read this. We practised it first and then did our good copy.I am doing a wordle which is alot of words all over the paper and they sort of slot into each other. Give it a go!! We also did made awards because we are filming for Bella the bully proof kid. We went to Waihopai school and did about half an hour of filming. Look on the Made awards website to look for our one in a couple of months if we win.

Frantic working....

Today was FRANTIC ok, I might be over reacting but it was a busy day... a lot planned.

So we did chess. I versed Darryn but lost. But wait - he taught me some sneaky moves and next weeks opponent had better watch out!! I am currently sixth on the long leaderboard.

We then went into teacher lead workshops. I went back to my newspaper group and started working away frantically.

My work is TOP SECRET so don't even think about asking what we are doing!! Ok I might expose bit of the TOP SECRET work. We are doing this awesome newspaper and we are going to publish it..... No, I'm not going to divulge too many details.

Lets face it!

O.K lets face it when you think of drama you think of wonderful productions, lovely big spotlights shining upon the star actor, and massive crowds applauding the actors.

There are some many little activities to build up to what I've explained in the starting paragraph. Even though I'm not in the performance group we occasionally do these...AWESOME ACTIVITIES.

We did one where you have a noise and you get into groups of three of four and with your noise you and your group mates make a story that links up and MAKES SENSE!! This was NOT me. So think about what happens in the background when you go to drama or a production.....

FIGHTER!!

The pawn swished across the chess board and slammed the black and white chess board. My opponent then came back fighting. He lightly picked up his Knight and was getting his revenge. I wasn't going to give up yet... I smashed his Knight out of this brutal game.... which was chess. It was an awesome game and I went down a fighter... Then we did talent development. We were learning about camera angles. We took some footage and we are going to edit it next week...FUN!!!!

THE PIT..

Today we started off with chess and I versed Bruno. It was a very intense game. Then we launched into P4C. We then did THE PIT... this is about how if something bad happens and you end up in the pit and it is strategies to resolve the problem. Later on today we are doing the newspaper with Nicola- I hope I can get in.

The lion king......

Today I had a  superb, superlative, first-class, outstanding, marvelous, magnificent, wonderful, splendid, glorious; informal great, fantastic, fabulous, terrific, ace, divine, wicked, cool, killer; smashing, brilliant day . Would you like to hear about it? We started off with the top-notch MADE awards. Today we were learning about screen play. We looked at the Lion King and I found that the  screen play was so detailed!!! I hope that we can get ours finished as we are doing a commercial. Thats all for now. 

Travis

We started the day off with passion time. Then we jumped into Rochelle's car and we sped off with high hopes of getting awesome photos at the BEACH. We hopped out of the car looking at the lovely beach.... and then we launched into action. Click Click snapped the cameras. 

I picked up a tiny shell and found a little crab in the colourful  shell that was about the size of my fingernail of my pinkie. I got some awesome photos. I did quite a lot of long shots.

The Awesome Made Awards

Today at Enrich I was doing the awesome Made awards with Katie and three other people. At the end of the day our group concluded that we were going to do a static image, which means that we can't change the photo. Then for the rest of the term we will do a commercial. We are still trying to think of what our product will be. See you next time...

Action packed day

Today at Enrich we had an action packed day. This is what we did....... Well today we went to look at patterns as this is our concept curriculum.We went to Queens Park. One person had a clipboard and the other person had to have a camera as we were in peers. We were trying to look at all patterns including order, survivability, strength, beauty. 

Awesome as Drama

I did drama today! What we did is ONE WORD STORY!!  It was an awesome game. What you had do is, get people up on the stage and you were only allowed to say one word per  person and  you weren't allowed to say because, apple, banana. That was really fun, awesome,  magnificent, wonderful, amazing, stunning, staggering, imposing, stirring, impressive; formidable, fearsome, dreaded; informal mind-boggling, mind-blowing, jaw-dropping, excellent and marvellous.  

Then we did affective domain 'What is Giftedness?'. So that was my day. Bye for now....

Caine's Arcade!

This video is about a person who makes a arcade out of cardboard. I think this is really cool! He made this out of all cardboard.  We watched this today, and then had a discussion based around how Caine was a gifted child.  What do you think? 

They have made a foundation called Imagination Foundation. The website is http://www.imagination.is/ . Now all people around the world come to see Caine's arcade next to the auto parts store.  You should try do it yourself!! 

Clunk clunk clunk!

My pawn swiftly flew through the air and landed with a bang two spaces away. My opponent cunningly moved his own pawn .We kept on doing this until..... Voila! I had got him (with the help of Darryn). I felt like like I was going to swiftly hop over the moon....but I kept my exciting feeling inside me. I carefully slid the black and white chess pieces inside of the boxes clunk clunk clunk.

Then all of a sudden... I heard Nicola smoothly playing the new keyboard. You might be thinking of a boring old keyboard but think again!  This is a state of the art Yamaha keyboard called the Tyros 4.

Today @ Enrich

Today at Enrich we launched into an awesome Wilson game. It was called the hoop game.I was in a group of three.What you had to do is put your feet together and hold the three other people's hands and in front of us was a hula-hoop about 3 meters away. Katie was saying jump and she would clap her hands and you and your group would have to jump.When you were about to jump into the hula-hoop you weren't allowed to touch the sides.

I also did a passion time proposal sheet. This is to ask what we are going to do for passion time. The thing that I would like to do is is take apart a computer apart and then put it back together. I feel excited but I think that I only have a fifty/fifty chance of this happening, and it will depend on whether we can get an old computer to take apart. Finger crossed!

28 Seconds

Hi people of the world. Today at Enrich we started with a Wilson game which was Piccadilly circus. The way you play Piccadilly circus is you pick an amount of balls and we picked 2 balls. You had to pass the ball to everyone and you had to be silent and you weren't allowed to pass the ball to the person directly beside you. We were in a circle. Our concept curriculum is patterns and we had to write what we knew patterns. There are alot of different types of patterns such as houses, Maori patterns and a chess board has patterns.
